The Wife between Us

the wife between usWhen you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Read between the lies.

Nellie is young and beautiful.  She teaches preschool with her roommate and best friend Samantha, and she is soon to be married to Richard.  Richard is nine years her senior, handsome, wealthy, and accomplished.  Nellie suffered from a frightening experience in her past that she has not shared with anyone.  She is now receiving strange phone calls and feels she is being followed.  Not aware of Nellie’s past, Richard assures her not to worry.

Vanessa lives with her aunt.  She is the ex-wife who drinks too much and can’t let Richard go.  She is barely able to hold onto her job at Saks.  Obsessed with Richard’s new fiancé, and their upcoming nuptials, Vanessa’s life is crumbling apart leaving her vowing that Richard will not remarry.

The prologue starts out in the third person, making the reader feel uneasy, true “stalkerish” vibe.  The characters add depth and intrigue to the story.  The plot twists are amazing and totally unexpected.  The first twist completely took me by surprise.  I actually flipped through some of the pages I already read because I knew I missed something.  I finally gave up and continued reading, mouth open wide, pure astonishment!  OMG!  I could not believe it!

Clever writing, developed characters and unpredictability make The Wife between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen a must read.  I loved everything about this book!

5/5 stars
