Eleven years ago, Lindsey Nash escaped into the night with her young daughter and left an abusive relationship. Her ex-husband, Andrew, was sent to jail and Lindsey started over with a new life.
Now, Lindsey is older and wiser, with her own business and a teenage daughter who needs her more than ever. When Andrew is finally released from prison, Lindsey believes she has cut all ties and left the past behind her. But she gets the sense that someone is watching her, tracking her every move. Her new boyfriend is threatened. Her home is invaded, and her daughter is shadowed. Lindsey is convinced it’s her ex-husband, even though he claims he’s a different person. But has he really changed? Is the one who wants her dead closer to home than she thought?
With Never Let You Go, Chevy Stevens delivers a chilling, twisting thriller that crackles with suspense as it explores the darkest heart of love and obsession.
It was love at first sight for Lindsey Finnegan. He walked into the hardware store where she worked and asked to see the manager. When he left, she ran to the back to find out his name…Andrew Nash. Lindsey and Andrew marry within a year of meeting and then comes baby Sophie. Unfortunately, Never Let You Lie by Chevy Stevens is not a fairy tale.
Andrew starts to change, or maybe he always behaved in a jealous manner. Lindsey tries to stay with Andrew for Sophie’s sake. Sophie hasn’t witnessed her father’s anger and abusive ways; she adores him. Lindsey is finally pushed over the edge and with the help of her brother has planned her escape, but Andrew takes the escape route out of her hands when he is arrested and sent to prison for ten years.
Lindsey and Sophie have a new life. Lindsey owns her own house cleaning business and Sophie is nearing her high school graduation. Needless to say, Lindsey isn’t too worried when her ex-husband is released from prison because he doesn’t know where she is. Then things start to happen. Someone is in one of the houses Lindsey cleans and rearranges her keys and purse. Then, her house is broken into and her boyfriend is hit by a car. These things are not coincidences; Lindsey’s past has returned.
This is my first Chevy Stevens read, and I will definitely be reading more. I was anxious while reading most of this book, trying to figure out who was guilty and plotting against Lindsey. Andrew, the ex-husband, was obviously first on my list, but there were other characters in this book that added suspicion to the equation. For a while I found myself reading for that hidden twist and finally had to let it go. The suspense led to the fast pace of this book making it a quick read. Lovers of mystery and suspense will absolutely appreciate this novel.
