As the end of her year in Oxford rapidly approaches, Ella must decide if the dreams she’s always wanted are the same ones she’s now yearning for.
Y’all. This book, MY OXFORD YEAR, blew me away. When I was reading the synopsis I thought it sounded like the perfect sweet novel to start my spring/summer off with. A happy romance story with rich and lovable characters. And man, I was right!
MY OXFORD YEAR is about Ella, a woman pursuing her dreams in England after receiving the Rhodes Scholarship. She’s dreamed about this opportunity every since she was a little girl. As soon as she’s about to step on her flight she gets a call and a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on a political campaign. She couldn’t be happier.
When she arrives at Oxford she’s taken back by the beauty of the place that she doesn’t see the car that’s heading straight to at her. Untouched but shaken she goes to a local spot to eat and runs in to none other than the driver on that car. Jamie Davenport, a man who has quite a reputation around Oxford. That won’t be the last time she sees Jamie, because he’s also the man who is teaching her English literature course.
After a very random late night of drinks with Jamie, she realizes there is more to him that just what everyone else has told her. And the discover a connection she never would have expected.
I seriously loved this story. The beginning was so vibrant and detailed that I believed I was walking around England with them. Ella was such a relatable character. Humorous, humble, and kind. And the chemistry between her and Jamie was so strong.
I really don’t want to go into detail because I feel like the plot twist that I didn’t see coming really solidified my love for this book. My emotions were all over the place and the ending left me breathless. If you’re looking for a story that breaks your heart and puts you back together look no further. THE OXFORD YEAR is just for you!
