IMG_4871A trio of college friends who reunite aboard a cruise ship experience an unforgettable vacation in this compelling novel from the author of The Summer of Good Intentions, which was hailed as “everything a summer read should be” by Elin Hilderbrand.

Three college roommates are celebrating a twentieth wedding anniversary by taking a cruise to Bermuda. As the ship pulls away from the pier, everyone is looking forward to lounging by the pool, sipping sunset cocktails, and reminiscing. Abby, the mother hen of the group, will be celebrating her wedding anniversary in style, even as she and her husband keep a secret from the group. Ambitious career woman Caroline happily anticipates several stress-free days away from her magazine job with her boyfriend, Javier, who may or may not be finally inspired to propose. And single mom Lee (annoyingly gorgeous and irresistibly popular in college) hopes she’ll win back the affections of her formerly sweet daughter Lacey, who after her first year in college, has inexplicably become a little bit of a monster.

As the balmy pink shores of Bermuda come into view, tensions simmer, and old jealousies flare, sending the temperature from soothing to scorching in this engrossing tale of three best friends on a vacation they won’t soon forget—but not for the reasons they expect.

If nothing else, remember to be amazed.”

THE SUMMER SAIL was the perfect story to get me in the mood for summer!

Abby, Caroline, and Lee were best friends and roommates in college. They’ve been there for each other through everything: marriages, births, new jobs. Now it’s Abby and her husband’s twentieth wedding anniversary and she wants all her friends to go on a cruise together to celebrate. She also has some news she has to inform her friends about.

Caroline, a magazine editor, has been with her boyfriend Javier for years and is wondering when he might propose. Praying this cruise will give him the perfect opportunity, she agrees to go.

Lee, a teacher, is off for the summer. Her daughter is home from college and she’s feeling the distance between the two of them now more than ever.  She agrees to the cruise hoping that it will give them some much needed mother/daughter bonding time.

All three best friends, using this cruise for something different, realize that their friendship and bond is still so strong after all these years.

Guys, this book was such a refreshing read. It was the first novel I’ve read by Wendy Francis and I’m super excited to go read her backlist. The setting on the cruise made me so envious. I couldn’t stop from being transported to the ship. Swaying with the waves and smelling the crisp, salty air.

The three best friends were all so different. They reacted differently to certain situations and had different opinions. The way they relied and guided each other without hesitation was beautiful. Their friendship made me appreciate the family and friends in my life and miss the ones that I haven’t seen in a while.

THE SUMMER SAIL had me holding my breath, smiling from ear to ear, and at times crying. It was such a beautiful journey and I truly couldn’t put the book down once I started. If you’re looking for a novel to transport you to summertime, with your best friends by your side, go grab this book now! You won’t be disappointed.
